Black Axe accused are being extradited.
Six Nigerian nationals arrested in South Africa in 2021 are been extradited to the United States, where they face allegations of wire fraud and money laundering linked to online romance scams.
The extradition was facilitated by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, commonly known as the Hawks, in collaboration with INTERPOL South Africa.
The six men are to be transported from a correctional facility in Cape Town to Cape Town International Airport, where they are set to be handed over to officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US Secret Service.
According to Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale, the men are alleged to be members of the Black Axe organised criminal network.
