US technology firm Anthropic, which owns the popular Claude AI platform, has released a report detailing a domestic political influence operation in Kenya that used its technology to manufacture political messaging praising Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.

The report also reveals that AI was separately used to produce content pushing messaging that the Opposition was fracturing ahead of the 2027 General Election, bringing into focus the role AI will play in shaping political messaging in Kenya.
