Netflix has canceled “Ransom Canyon” after two seasons.
The romantic drama was set in the Texas Hill Country and, per the official logline, followed “the intersecting lives of deep-rooted families in a town where your neighbors know everyone’s business.” Season 2 saw “rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) fighting to reclaim his legacy after being unseated as trustee of his family’s Double K Ranch, while musician Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly) must decide if her heart truly belongs in the small town she once tried to outrun or in the fast-paced world of New York City.”
Along with Duhamel and Kelly, the cast included Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher and Casey W. Johnson. Season 1 also featured Eoin Macken, Andrew Liner and James Brolin.
“Ransom Canyon” was created by April Blair based on the book series of the same name by Jodi Thomas. The Netflix series premiered in April 2025 and spent five weeks on the Netflix Top 10 but received mixed reviews, getting a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety critic Aramide Tinubu wrote: “The amusing thing about ‘Ransom Canyon,’ even more so than the Northern California-based ‘Virgin River,’ is that every narrative and storyline is easily foreseen three and a half miles off. From the moment the show begins, viewers can predict (with enormous accuracy) how the season will end. Throughout the 10-episode first season, there are two moments of genuine shock and awe, but this didn’t make watching Quinn, Staten and the Ransom community any less enjoyable.” Reviews of Season 2, which was released in July of this year and only appeared on the Netflix Top 10 for three weeks, were similar.
