The Greater Chennai Police have launched an intensive crackdown on habitual offenders, detaining 185 history-sheeters for questioning about their current criminal activities.Following directions from the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A. Amalraj, police teams led by Inspectors have been conducting intensive searches and enquiries across all police districts since Thursday (September 10, 2026) night.During the operation, the teams detained 185 persons with criminal backgrounds whose history sheets are maintained at various police stations in the city. They are being questioned to ascertain their current activities and possible involvement in recent offences.Mr. Amalraj warned that stringent legal action would be taken against those involved in criminal activities or acts that could disrupt law and order.
