MRT Corp said only the leftmost lane of Jalan Magazine heading towards Komtar will be closed, while the other lanes will remain open. — Picture via Facebook/Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd First Published: Friday, 11 Sep 2026 6:33 PM MYT GEORGE TOWN, Sept 11 — Jalan Magazine here will be closed for 21 days from September 14 to facilitate road widening and utility relocation works for the LRT Mutiara Line project.Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the closure would be in effect around the clock from 10pm on September 14 until 5am on October 5.“The closure will involve the leftmost lane of Jalan Magazine in front of St. Giles Wembley Hotel heading towards KOMTAR, while the other lanes will remain open to traffic,” it said in a statement today.It said a partial lane closure would also be implemented intermittently along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah from 8am to 4pm daily from September 16 to December 15 to facilitate construction of the LRT Mutiara Line, including drainage and road widening works.The closure will involve the leftmost lane between the Sunny Point Complex traffic light junction and the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) field heading towards KOMTAR, as well as the rightmost lane in front of the USM field and Batu Uban Army Camp in both directions.“Other lanes will remain open to traffic at all times. Road users are advised to exercise caution when passing through the area.“Road signs and traffic cones will be placed, while flagmen will be deployed to help manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of road users at the affected routes,” it added. — Bernama
