A mechanic says a customer brought their truck in because the air conditioning wasn’t blowing cold. It was hard to wonder how that could be once the mechanic began removing a long-neglected cabin air filter that kept unraveling and dumping enough debris to require a Shop-Vac cleanup.
The clip from creator Alex (@96alexs) gets visually ridiculous in a hurry, showing him pulling and pulling and pulling at the unfolded remnants of what was once a functional filter. What's piled up outside the truck at the end of the video looks more like a forgotten husk.
“This come over on Noah's Ark,” Alex said in the clip that's been viewed more than 3.1 million times. “Y'all talking about my A/C ain't blowing cold. … You just can't [expletive] feel it.”
Dirty Cabin Air Filter: How Does It Affect Airflow?
As absurd as the filter looks, Alex’s diagnosis has some logic to it and appears mechanically sound. A cabin air filter sits in the path of the air moving through a vehicle’s heating and air-conditioning system, trapping dust, pollen, and other debris before it reaches the people inside. Once enough of that material builds up, the filter itself can become an obstruction.
