adsAliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and owner of one of the largest refineries in the world, says he plans to take his refinery business to the United States stock market after completing an expansion that will more than double its refining capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day.

Dangote disclosed the plan in an interview with CNN, days after his refinery business signed documents for what is expected to become Africa’s largest-ever initial public offering (IPO).

“After we have gone to 1.4 million [barrels per day] in the next two and a half years, we will now list in the US,” Dangote told CNN Thursday.

The planned US listing would represent another major step in the internationalisation of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, which is preparing to list first in Nigeria on September 14.
