A recent warning from banks about scams targeting customers is a reminder that criminals are not only after the money in your account. They are also after something that can be just as, if not, more valuable: your personal information.
Your name, identity number, phone number, email address, banking details and other seemingly ordinary pieces of information can give scammers what they need to impersonate you, gain your trust or attempt to access your accounts.
For consumers, this means protecting personal information is now an important part of protecting their money.
