The company is targeting Rs 20,000 crore revenue by FY29, while strong Q1 results and AI-led demand have driven a sharp rally in its shares.ETMarkets.comSterlite Tech expands its AI data centre play.Shares of Sterlite Technologies will be in focus heading into trade on Friday after the company secured Optical Fiber Nonconductive Plenum (OFNP) US certification for its Intermittently Bonded Ribbon (IBR) pre-terminated assembly portfolio, aimed at indoor AI data centre connectivity.STL said the factory-built cable assemblies come with connectors installed, polished and tested for high performance. The assemblies are designed to eliminate the need for field splicing and equipment, helping enable faster installation and lower costs, the company said.With the certification, STL said it is now among the global AI-ready infrastructure providers for NFPA 262-qualified indoor cable assemblies. The plenum-certified portfolio is designed for indoor applications and targets specialised deployments inside hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centre containment zones.According to STL, the cables are optimised for tight routing environments and enable operators to scale bandwidth within restricted duct spaces without compromising safety compliance.“As AI workloads push the boundaries of data centre design, the physical layer must evolve to meet unprecedented density and safety demands,” said Badri Gomatam, CTO, Optical Networking Business, STL.“Achieving this plenum certification for our indoor IBR cable family is a testament to STL's engineering excellence and our commitment to being the partner of choice for the world's largest hyperscalers. We are proud to deliver solutions that not only power the AI revolution but do so with the highest standards of safety and reliability,” he added.Sterlite Tech FY29 guidanceLast week, the company outlined its long-term growth plans, including a target of becoming one of the top five players globally in optical connectivity solutions and achieving revenue of Rs 20,000 crore by FY29.The company identified optical TAM expansion, customer co-development, integrated connectivity solutions and tech-led differentiation as key growth drivers. Sterlite Technologies also plans to expand its capacity to 1.5 times to support the next phase of growth.As part of its capital allocation for long-term growth, the company plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore annually over the next three financial years to expand preform, fibre and cable capacities by 50%. The company has further committed 2% of annual revenue towards continuous technological innovation across MCF, HCF and CPO.Sterlite Tech Q1 resultsSterlite Technologies reported its strongest quarterly performance in Q1FY27, helped by higher demand for optical connectivity products, growth in its data centre business and a record order book linked to AI-ready digital infrastructure.The company reported revenue of Rs 1,910 crore for the quarter ended June 30, up 87% from Rs 1,019 crore in the same quarter last year. Sequentially, revenue rose 33% from Rs 1,441 crore in Q4FY26. Profit after tax rose 870% to Rs 197 crore from Rs 10 crore a year earlier.
