The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) has engaged leading stakeholders in the private and public sectors of the nation’s economy towards the design of a new framework for financial intelligence sharing.

The move is considered as a significant step towards enhancing the integrity and resilience of the country’s financial system.

According to a statement, the high-level engagement, which was organised with the support of the British High Commission in Nigeria, and the Convention for Business Integrity (CBi), brought together regulators, banks, insurance companies, fintechs, Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), technology firms and other stakeholders to co-design the proposed Joint Financial Intelligence Collaboration (JFIC).
