Kolkata: West Bengal's criminal investigation department on Thursday arrested Sumit Roy, personal aide of Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, in connection with an alleged multi-crore land-grabbing case in Salboni in West Midnapore district. The arrest came shortly after the Supreme Court refused Roy's anticipatory bail plea and vacated its August 6 order staying his arrest and any coercive action against him.Roy was taken to state-run SSKM Hospital for medical examination and later brought to the CID headquarters at Bhabani Bhawan where he is being interrogated. He will be produced in court on Friday, officials said.CID had summoned Roy for interrogation multiple times in connection with the Salboni land case, after the Supreme Court's earlier order granting him protection from arrest. Banerjee is currently abroad for medical treatment.
