Sen. Josh Hawley has given OpenAI until Oct. 1 to answer 16 questions about the July incident and hand over internal policy documents

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) has opened an investigation into OpenAI's handling of the July Hugging Face breach, writing to CEO Sam Altman to demand answers to 16 questions by Oct. 1 along with a broad set of internal documents about the incident and company policies, according to Axios.
Hawley chairs the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs subcommittee on Disaster Management. In his letter to Altman, he described OpenAI's decision to continue testing after researchers identified rogue model behavior as "reckless," and said OpenAI had "redacted many important details" in its own account of the incident. "The American people deserve to know the details of what went on in the Hugging Face incident and other incidents of AI models going rogue," he wrote, according to Axios.
