The updated figure marks one of the highest casualty counts recorded for the Russian military in a single conflict since World War II.
The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence has disclosed that total Russian military casualties have surpassed 1.5million personnel killed or wounded since President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
In a official statement published via its X handle on Thursday, the UK Ministry of Defence underscored the massive human cost of Moscow's ongoing war of aggression, noting that the casualty figures reflect the brutal toll of the multi-year conflict.
"1.5 million. The number of Russian military personnel killed or wounded since Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine," the Ministry stated.
"Behind every number is a person. And behind every casualty is the devastating cost of Putin’s war."
