BRUSSELS: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday she will detail a proposal to protect children from social media algorithms in a State of the Union speech on September 16."We do not have to accept childhoods shaped by algorithms. We do not have to accept a system that fails our children. Europe has the power to act," she said in a post on X.Von der Leyen called in a speech in May for more protections for children against the "addictive designs" of social media platforms such as TikTok, Meta and X, raising the possibility of an age limit on teens accessing them.
