The best saucepan set is one of the hardest working parts of any kitchen, but only the most durable ones will last you for years. They’re an essential we reach for everyday, whether for boiled eggs in the morning or batch-cooked-bolognese. When it comes to choosing the best saucepans, it’s perfectly fine to get them separately, but it tends to work out as less expensive if you buy them as a set instead of individually. There are various types to choose between, including stainless steel, non-stick, stackable and induction-friendly, and the one you end up with can make cooking significantly easier. A well-made pan heats evenly, responds fast when you change the temperature, and stops food catching on the bottom – which means fewer mistakes, less waste, and far calmer weeknight cooking.”She added: “You get more consistent results, everything tastes cleaner, and you don’t find yourself fighting with the heat. Having the right range of sizes matters too: a small pan for sauces or melting butter, a medium for everyday meals, and a large one for pasta or batch cooking. Once you use a solid set, you realise how much time and frustration the cheap ones were adding to your cooking.”One thing you do need to take in to account is what kind of hob you have. If you have an induction hob then you’ll need to ensure the pan set you’ve chosen is induction-safe, that means it usually has a cast iron, stainless steel or magnetic layer on the base. Also, think about your cleaning needs, do you need a set of pans that are dishwasher friendly or are you happy to put some elbow grease in to cleaning up after you’ve finished cooking your meal.
