A resident of Yekkur went to the KarnatakaOne centre in Kadri Mallikatte to pay power bills of an apartment in cash on Tuesday and Wednesday. The personnel at the centre refused to receive the bills and sent him away as the KarnatakaOne system was not displaying the Mescom bill details. Another was sent away similarly on Wednesday. When The Hindu visited the centre on Thursday, the personnel at the bill counter said the problem was at the Mescom end. “We received the payment of only one consumer whose bill amount got displayed on our screen. There were only a few such payments received by us every day since Tuesday. We have raised the issue with the Mescom, and the issue is yet to be addressed,” the KarnatakaOne personnel at Kadri said.Same was reaction of the personnel at the KarnatakaOne Centre at the MCC Central office building in Lalbagh. “The connection to Mescom server continues to be erratic since Tuesday. We could process only a few Mescom bills in the last three days,” the personnel said. The personnel at the KarnatakaOne centre at the Bavutagudde said they were able to process only bills pertaining to rural areas but unable to process those bills from urban areas. “We could process a few bills on Thursday,” the Bavutagudde personnel said. The Mescom official overseeing the billing operations at the KarnatakaOne ruled out any server issue. “I visited the centre in Lalbagh on Thursday and found no problem. Because of directive not to accept cheques for payment of power and other bills, the KarnatakaOne centers have sent away those consumers,” the official said. She said the problem in processing the bill might be related to specific bills. The MESCOM has not received any complaint about difficulty in paying bill at the KarnatakaOne centres, she said.
