The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) has opened 14 direct purchase centres (DPC) in the district to procure paddy from the farmers.They have come up at E. Vellanur, Alampadi, Ariyur, Sengaraiyur, Mangammalpuram, Jengamarajapuram, Nathamangudi, V. Thuraiyur, Mullal, Thinniyam, Mettupatti, Komakudi in Lalgudi taluk and Poigaikudi in Tiruverumbur taluk. They will function until August 2027. The DPCs will procure paddy from farmers under the Tamil Nadu Decentralised Paddy Procurement Scheme.Collector Pratik Tayal said farmers could utilise the opportunity to sell their produce by registering themselves with the submission of relevant documents such as land deeds, Aadhaar card and bank account details. Farmers would be paid ₹2,750 a quintal of paddy. It included ₹2,461 on account of minimum support price for fine variety and the State government’s incentive of ₹289. For common variety, the procurement price would be ₹2,600 a quintal of paddy — ₹2,442 minimum support price and ₹159 incentive.
