Andrew Garfield plays OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial — but off screen, he’s quit ChatGPT.
Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Garfield revealed that the role left him uneasy enough to delete his ChatGPT account — and that this isn’t the first time a character has changed how he interacts with technology.
“It’s the same thing that happened to me when I did The Social Network, which was, I got off Facebook immediately,” he told Kimmel, who’d asked whether making the film left him nervous about technology. “Yeah, I got off my ChatGPT immediately.”
Garfield played Facebook Co-Founder Eduardo Saverin in the 2010 film — a role that, by his own account, left the same mark.
“The more you know, the more you realise we’re careening into some very unknown territory,” he said.
