nixamp 0.10.0 is out. Three things: paste any link and it plays, keep it with one click, and every live stream has its own phone room.
Paste any link
Under the player there is a box. Paste a page into it, a podcast episode, a SoundCloud track, an Internet Archive film, a TikTok live, and the server you are connected to works out where the media actually is and plays it to you as a channel of its own. It is played the way a catalog entry is played: started for whoever asked, stopped a minute after the last viewer leaves, and shared by two people who paste the same link. A bare link to an MP3 or an HLS playlist needs no working-out at all.
The working-out is yt-dlp's, which knows a thousand sites and is updated weekly. The installer fetches it as a standalone binary beside nixamp when it is not already there, so nixamp update is the whole setup. Some sites refuse a datacenter without a signed-in browser, YouTube and Vimeo among them; the player says so in its note, and a Netscape cookies file at ~/.local/state/nixamp/cookies.txt is passed through when you put one there.
