French energy giant TotalEnergies has announced a new oil discovery in Angola and signed agreements to acquire a 40% operated interest in two additional exploration blocks as it expands its operations in the country.
The company said the new Acacia-5 discovery will add about 6,000 barrels of oil per day to production from its Block 17. TotalEnergies expects the fast-track development to begin producing within three months of the discovery, which was made in June 2026.
First Oil will be achieved only three months after the discovery made in June 2026, through a fast-track development leveraging the available capacity on the Pazflor FPSO.
Acacia-5 is the second exploration success recorded in 2026 across TotalEnergies' Angolan portfolio, following the recent Block 0 discovery in the prolific Lower Congo Basin, where TotalEnergies holds a 10% interest alongside Chevron.
