A 17-year-old girl gave birth to a baby girl at the Government District Headquarters Hospital, Machilipatnam, and the Guduru police have registered a case following a complaint.When the girl went into labour a few days ago, family members admitted her to the hospital. According to the doctors, both the mother and child are doing well, Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) Department officials said.The Guduru police of Krishna district registered the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.The girl is studying intermediate at a private college in Krishna district.“Instructions have been given to the police to produce the mother and the infant before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and conduct a thorough investigation in the case,” CWC member Chandragiri Radha Kumari told The Hindu on Thursday (September 10, 2026).
