Morocco’s imports of Argentine corn have increased 133% as North African buyers turn away from Ukrainian supplies disrupted by Russian attacks and transport problems.
Argentina’s corn shipments to North Africa rose 45% year on year to 6.5 million tonnes during the first seven months of 2026, according to data from the country’s INDEC statistics agency.
Morocco recorded the sharpest increase, importing 1.55 million tonnes of Argentine corn.
Egypt’s purchases climbed 48% to 2.4 million tonnes, while Algeria bought an equal volume after increasing its imports by 10%.
The three African countries are now helping Argentina approach record exports of 10 million tonnes during August and September, Reuters reported.
