The quietness aboard the Springboks and All Blacks’ chartered flight to Baltimore may have been a sign of the storm that awaits the world champions in the fourth and final Test of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry on Saturday.
According to loose forward Jasper Wiese, there was little conversation between the players after South Africa’s 29-24 victory over New Zealand at FNB Stadium this past weekend.
The result gave the world champions a 2-1 series lead and put them in the driving seat ahead of the finale (11.10pm kick-off). The teams arrived to a warm welcome from a South African contingent in the United States, however, it was the Boks that understandably looked the happier side getting off the plane.
“I don’t think it was too friendly on that flight. I’m not going to sugar-coat it – there wasn’t a lot of conversation,” Wiese said during an online press conference.
