Equity mutual fund inflows surged 19% to Rs 29,328 crore in August from Rs 24,697 crore in July, according to monthly data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI).Among the 11 sub-categories, smallcaps received the highest inflows of Rs 7,973 crore in August, compared with Rs 7,767 crore in July.Midcap funds received the second-highest inflows at Rs 6,989 crore, followed by flexi-cap funds, which saw inflows of Rs 5,059 crore.In August, largecap funds saw an outflow of Rs 1,147 crore, while sectoral and thematic funds recorded outflows of Rs 53 crore and Rs 1,766 crore, respectively.Value funds and contra funds received inflows of Rs 24 crore and Rs 1,328 crore respectively. Dividend yield funds and ELSS funds saw an outflow of Rs 133 crore and 1,078 crore respectively.Debt fundsDebt funds saw an outflow of Rs 8,127 crore in August compared to an inflow of Rs 1.87 lakh crore in July. Among 17-sub categories, six categories received inflows and others saw outflows.Liquid funds received the highest inflow of Rs 19,934 crore, followed by money market funds that received an inflow of Rs 11,734 crore.AMFI disclosed the data of debt oriented sectoral funds for the first time in August and the category received an inflow of Rs 583 crore.Overnight funds saw the highest outflow of Rs 30,654 crore in August, followed by short duration funds that saw an outflow of Rs 4,256 crore.Hybrid fundsHybrid funds received an inflow of Rs 10,045 crore in August registering a decline of 13% on monthly basis from an inflow of Rs 11,490 crore in July. Among the even sub-categories, four received inflows and the remaining three saw outflows.Arbitrage funds received the highest inflow of Rs 3,789 crore in August, followed by multi asset allocation funds that received an inflow of Rs 3,670 crore.Equity savings funds saw the highest outflow of Rs 246 crore, dynamic asset allocation and balanced funds saw an outflow of Rs 227 crore. Conservative hybrid funds saw an outflow of Rs 99 crore.Life cycle fundsLife cycle funds received an inflow of Rs 7.87 crore in August and the funds with maturity of 10 years received an inflow of Rs 4.34 crore and the ones with maturity of 15 years received an inflow of Rs 3.53 crore.Other schemesOther schemes that include equity oriented, debt oriented and hybrid oriented funds received an inflow of Rs 787 crore in August.ETFsThe seven ETF categories received an inflow of Rs 10,160 crore in August. Equity ETFs received an inflow of Rs 7,237 crore in August, followed by gold ETFs that received an inflow of Rs 2,596 crore. Silver ETFs received an inflow of Rs1,270 crore.Assets under managementThe mutual fund assets under management went up 2% to Rs 86.92 lakh crore in August compared to Rs 85.59 lakh crore in July.New fund offersIn August, 26 new funds were launched which together collected Rs 7,110 crore. Among these 26 funds, SBI Balanced Hybrid Fund was the highest contributor as the fund collected Rs 1,818 crore.

In August, equity mutual funds witnessed a notable inflow increase of nineteen percent, reaching Rs 29,328 crore. Smallcap funds topped the inflow chart, followed by midcap and flexi-cap categories. Conversely, debt funds faced a significant outflow of Rs 8,127 crore, and hybrid funds experienced a downturn with inflows of Rs 10,045 crore. The total mutual fund assets under management surged to Rs 86.92 lakh crore.
