He said concerns around CEO succession, Atanu Chakraborty’s resignation, Credit Suisse AT1 bonds, the ₹45 crore MSRDC arrangement and an ongoing US investor-related legal case have weighed on sentiment and valuations, but reviews and investigations have not indicated mala fide intent, personal enrichment or systemic governance failure.Tiwari highlighted HDFC Bank’s around US$12 billion FCNR(B) deposits raised at 6.25 per cent and its current valuation of around 1.8x P/B, close to a multi-year low versus its historical range of above 2.5x P/B. He identified CEO succession clarity, resolution of the US legal case and NIM stabilisation as key triggers, and expects Kaizad Bharucha to take over as CEO for the next three-year term. According to Tiwari, the current valuation offers an attractive risk-reward, with most concerns viewed as transitional rather than structural.“We believe the current valuation already discounts a significant portion of the negative news. The challenges following the HDFC Ltd merger are gradually being addressed, while the recent concerns have further depressed investor sentiment.”“We see three key triggers: CEO succession clarity, resolution of the US legal case and NIM stabilisation. We expect Kaizad Bharucha to take over as CEO for the next three-year term, which should provide leadership continuity and improve investor confidence. Further improvement in deposits and normalisation of the credit-deposit ratio could provide additional support,” Tiwari said.Technical frontVirat Jagad, Sr. Technical Research Analyst at Bonanza, said HDFC Bank remains in a clear weekly downtrend, with the stock trading below major EMAs and facing rejection near ₹840. He noted that momentum remains weak, with ₹683 as the key support. Jagad advised avoiding fresh buying and said existing positions should be monitored closely, with ₹683–675 forming the major support zone. A breakdown below ₹683 could open the way towards ₹636–625.More Like ThisPublished on September 10, 2026
