Sen Tim Scott (R-S.C.) helped kick off President Donald Trump’s Republican midterm convention on Wednesday with a wild, screaming and ranting performance that lit up social media in all the wrong ways. He called Democrats “weird” in a way that critics thought also came across as more than a little weird and wildly over the top. “The Democrats’ extreme candidates will rip that heart out of our chests,” he shouted, pulling open his jacket and thumping on his chest as he said it. “They hate our culture! They hate what it means to be American!” He also turned to religion. “We’re talking about Jeeeeeeeeesus,” he yelled. “I said the king of kings, and the lord of lords, alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, that’s our God. That’s America. We looooove our God! Amen!” Scott’s critics could hardly believe what they were seeing: Ben Meiselas can’t stop laughing as Tim Scott turns the MAGA convention into a sermon attacking James Talarico for saying God is non-binary.“This is what Tim Scott was like: ‘Jeeeeeeesus said that God has a schlong!’”“I think this is actually a scene from Idiocracy.” pic.twitter.com/4f0HXqBkum— MeidasTouch (@MeidasTouch) September 10, 2026
