New York (EFE).- American tennis player Coco Gauff advanced to the US Open semifinals on Wednesday by coming back from a set down and saving two match points against Russian player Mirra Andreeva, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2.
Gauff faced a challenging match, losing the first four games to fall behind 4-0 against Andreeva and committing 42 unforced errors. She will face Elena Rybakina, the new world No. 1, on Thursday.
The other semifinal, also on Thursday, will be between Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka and American player Jessica Pegula. EFE
