A Senior Finance Business Partner based in Nairobi, Kenya, Brian Muloni, has said Africa’s weak economy is driving a new wave of youth migration to the United States and Europe, as formal jobs remain scarce across the continent.
He emphasised that economy across African countries could not absorb the growing wave of young jobseekers, adding that the continent’s educated youths now migrate to the United States and other western countries for survival.
Muloni, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, describing America as emerging destination of choice for many of the continent’s young people.
He said, “Economy across the continent simply cannot absorb the wave of young jobseekers. Formal employment remains scarce. The informal sector absorbs many, but it offers little security and less advancement. Muloni said many young Africans now possess tech-related skills that companies in the U.S. are actively seeking, providing further encouragement against the weak and poor economy in the continent.
