In August 2026, Ukraine recorded an average 60.1% drop in steel, pig iron and rolled‑product output.
Ukrinform reported the figures, citing the Ukrmetalurgprom Association of Enterprises.
According to published data, Ukrainian metallurgical plants produced 4.3 million tonnes of steel in the first eight months of the year, 12.5% less than in the same period last year. Steel output fell 57.3% month‑on‑month in August compared with July.
Pig iron production for the period declined 14.8% to 4.35 million tonnes, with a 65.6% monthly drop in August.
