The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has announced that a total of 7,059 Nigerian seafarers have been deployed on vessels to acquire sea-time experience.
Oyetola also disclosed that under the Nigerian Seafarers Development Programme, 135 cadets had successfully completed the programme and obtained their Certificates of Competency.
In a statement issued recently by his Special Adviser, Dr Bolaji Akinola, Oyetola stated that 222 seafarers had been trained free of charge in basic and advanced professional courses, while 333 cadets had completed their academic training and been awarded degrees.

Under the NSDP, 135 cadets had successfully completed the programme and obtained their CoC. 7,059 Nigerian seafarers had been placed onboard vessels to acquire seatime experience,” Oyetola said.
