Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has played down fears about an injury to forward Bradley Barcola, confirming the player came off against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday with “cramps”.The summer signing made his full debut during the 2-1 Champions League victory over the Spanish side, but went down holding his left leg just before the hour mark. The 24-year-old, who completed a £123million ($166.6m) move from Paris Saint-Germain towards the end of the transfer window, was replaced by Jeremie Frimpong. Barcola was unable to mark his debut with a goal, but it was an encouraging debut from the French international.“No, it is just cramp,” Iraola told reporters during his post-match press conference. “With Bradley, it is about building his physical condition. We didn’t know until now, probably, how much he can play.“He didn’t have any minutes in pre-season with PSG. He played 30 minutes the other day (against Ipswich Town). We had some question marks about how many minutes he could give us and probably now we know.“I’m very happy because also, he has had two very clear chances against the goalkeeper. He didn’t score, but I want him there. That is where he has to make the difference, arriving in those positions.”Iraola also confirmed that left-back Milos Kerkez was also suffering from cramp when he was substituted. The Liverpool head coach, though, will have to wait to see if Cody Gakpo will be available when Liverpool face Fulham in the Premier League at the weekend. The Dutch international was absent from the matchday squad after picking up a minor injury.“I don’t know – I hope,” Iraola said. “He doesn’t have a proper injury, but he finished with niggles in both of the abductors the other day. We expected to have him for today, but it hasn’t been possible.“It is not a big thing but the problem is we play here in two and a half days. Now is a moment to recover these two days, see how Bradley has finished, how Cody is – if can give us some minutes.“If not Rio (Ngumoha), Victor (Munoz), I think today everyone has done a big effort and we need to recover and regroup and think because we play again here against Fulham. It is a very important game again for us. We hope we can have Cody with us, but I cannot guarantee it.”
