JKIA tightens baggage, border controls in aviation security push

The government has stepped up controls at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as part of a broader push to improve operational efficiency and position Kenya’s main gateway as a leading aviation hub in the region.

The measures were announced in an update provided during the 69th meeting of the Border Control and Operations Coordination Committee (BCOCC), chaired by Internal Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.

The government is advancing the implementation of the Advanced Passenger Registration (APR) system, which is expected to enhance information sharing and strengthen operational situational awareness. The system is expected to be operational within the next month.
