As robot mowers become more mainstream, it's easier to find models boasting fancy features like wire-free navigation, customizable cutting heights, and obstacle avoidance. One of the top options on the market is the Ecovacs GOAT A2000 LiDAR Pro Robot Lawn Mower, now $600 off and down to its lowest price yet of $1,399 (originally $1,999.99).
Using Ecovacs’ HoloScope 360 Dual-LiDAR navigation system, which combines 360-degree LiDAR, 3D ToF (time-of-flight) sensing, and an AI camera, setup is relatively quick and painless. The mower can navigate on cloudy days and in low-light conditions, with claimed positioning accuracy of up to two centimeters. However, Ecovacs recommends against mowing after dark to protect animals. It’s powered by a 32-volt battery system that provides around 50 minutes of mowing per charge and takes approximately 50 minutes to recharge.It’s best suited to small-to-medium lawns, as it can handle up to half an acre; larger lawns may be better served by the A3000, which covers up to three-quarters of an acre. It tackles inclines up to a 50% grade and offers AI-powered edge trimming through a rotating 8,500 RPM trimmer line paired with a camera that distinguishes grass from non-grass surfaces. Its obstacle-avoidance system can reportedly recognize more than 200 types of objects.The app also lets you adjust cutting height from about 1.18 to 3.54 inches, as well as mowing speed. The app also lets you create mowing zones (which is helpful if different parts of your lawn grow at different rates) and set customized schedules. Another perk is its rated sound-pressure level of approximately 54 dBA, making the main mower much quieter than a typical gas model, although the integrated trimmer is noticeably louder.
