The Lakers have made a new hire into their front office by adding Eric Amsler from the Miami Heat. The Lakers did not immediately return requests for comment.Amsler has an extensive history in basketball scouting, having worked for the Heat since 2004 in several personnel roles. Most recently, he served as the team’s vice president of player personnel.He’s the second major hire by Rob Pelinka this summer, fulfilling his promise to bolster the team’s front-office operations. I’ll be headed to the combine. We will continue to staff out with assistant general manager positions,” Pelinka said at the end of last season. “There’s a couple of those that we’re currently interviewing for and have done an extensive dive in that process. Those will be two key pillars that we’ll add for this offseason.”The hire comes as the Lakers navigate the transition from Mark Walter’s tenure to a new ownership led by Josh Kushner.
