Martha Stewart is reflecting on the eerie conversation she had with John F. Kennedy Jr. shortly before his death. During Tuesday’s premiere episode of “The Real Housewives of New York,” Stewart shared that she had dinner with Kennedy four days before the July 16, 1999, plane crash. The home-keeping mogul mentioned her connection to the late son of the 35th U.S. president after she told her makeup artist, Nicole Daisy Toye, that she had been watching Hulu’s “Love Story.” The limited series explores the high-profile marriage and tragic deaths of Kennedy and his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Stewart revealed that Kennedy reached out to her because he was in “trouble” with George, his political lifestyle magazine. He sought her expertise as she was running the uber-successful Martha Stewart Living magazine. “I said, ‘Of course, anything you want,’” Stewart recounted. “We had a very nice dinner. And then at the end of the dinner, I said to him, ‘What are you doing this weekend?’ He said, ’Oh, we’re going to a wedding in Martha’s Vineyard, and I’m taking my wife and her sister.” After questioning who would be flying the plane, she said Kennedy replied, “I’m flying.” Martha Stewart and John F. I feel sorry.”Kennedy was piloting a six-seat Piper Saratoga aircraft, traveling with his wife and her sister, Lauren Bessette, when the plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, killing everyone on board.The group departed from New Jersey’s Essex County Airport and headed for Massachusetts, with plans to drop off Bessette before continuing on to a family wedding. Kennedy’s plane crashed during a descent over the water at night due to spatial disorientation, which is the inability to accurately gauge your body’s position or altitude relative to your surroundings, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
