Prince Harry spoke to his father within the first week of his return to the UK, The i Paper understands – despite reports that they have had no contact.
Well-placed sources have suggested the King is likely to meet his younger son and his family privately away from the cameras over the coming weeks and months, in an effort to rebuild their relationships, despite a briefing war that has erupted between palace officials and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s camp in the past few days.
Repairing relations with the royals was one of several reasons why Harry and Meghan decided to return to the UK, but a source close to the couple told The i Paper that the success or failure of efforts to improve family relations will not drive them away.
“Their relationship with the Royal Family I don’t think is likely to influence where they want to live,” the source said.
