At today’s Apple keynote event, the company has revealed its new and improved AirPods 5. The upgraded version of our editors’ favorite pair of affordable earbuds to use with an iPhone have now been updated for the first time in two years. They share much of the same design as the previous version but pack in upgrades like improved active noise cancellation (ANC), better battery life and even features that were previously only available on the higher-end AirPods Pro.

Apple’s standard pair of the new AirPods 5 land with the same price tag as the previous-generation pair but now include active noise cancellation without an additional markup. They also come with better quality audio than before thanks to Apple’s next-generation Adaptive EQ system as well as improved Spatial Audio to help ensure that the upgraded internal audio array sounds as well as it can.
Apple AirPods 5 With Wireless Charging Case
There’s also a higher-end pair of AirPods 5, which include the same improved listening experience as the baseline model, just with an added wireless charging case. This iteration also adds additional battery life, as well as on-stem volume control like you’ll find on the AirPods Pro 3. These extra features are add an extra $20 to the price of the baseline pair of earbuds.
