Chris Pappas, favored but not by much in November.
New Hampshire, much like Ohio, Iowa, and Florida, is a onetime red-hot battleground state that has recently become a bit more predictable. Only once since 1988 have Republicans carried the Granite State in presidential elections. But it has largely remained competitive (Donald Trump lost by an eyelash in 2016 and came within 3 percent in 2024). And downballot, it has remained slippery. So it’s not entirely shocking that in what is very likely going to be a good Democratic year nationally, New Hampshire could be a bright spot on the map for the GOP.
