The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has defended the right to record police officers while carrying out their lawful duties, saying law enforcement agencies should not be afraid of transparency.
Badejo-Okusanya made the remarks while engaging the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, in a discussion concerning the legality and limits of recording police officers in the course of their duties.

According to her, members of the public should not automatically be prevented from recording police officers performing their duties, while the privacy of officers and other individuals must also be protected within the limits of the law.
