The Metropolitan Police confirmed the investigation on Wednesday, after an undercover investigation aired by Channel 4 raised allegations involving senior officials of the party led by Nigel Farage, according to The Telegraph.
The police said the allegations could involve potential offences and would be examined alongside an existing investigation into donations to Reform UK.
According to the police, detectives received several reports following the Channel 4 broadcast on September 3 concerning donations and polling involving a political party. The force said its assessment identified “potential offences requiring investigation” and that the allegations were similar to matters already being investigated by its Special Enquiry Team.
