The UK government has promised to bring in legislation to force tech companies such as Apple and Google to block children from taking or viewing photographs of nude material on their devices, in a move aimed at limiting dangers such as grooming and extortion.
The legislation would also require apps that are used by children to introduce similar blocks, culture secretary Lisa Nandy MP told MPs on Tuesday.
She said Apple and Google had been given a three-month deadline in June to bring in such restrictions, but had failed to do so.
