The State government has positively responded to the demands raised by the employees. The government has asked the Payment Revision Commission headed by retired IAS officer N. Shiva Shankar to submit its report along with recommendations at the earliest so that a decision can be taken on them. The government has also decided to constitute a committee to study the demand for scrapping the Contributory Pension Scheme and reintroducing the Old Pension Scheme.The committee would consist experts in payment revision affairs, senior officers and employees representatives as members and it would be asked to study various aspects associated with the CPS and suggest measures.Decisions to this effect were taken after a meeting between Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju and representatives of different employees’ unions on Wednesday. The development follows the decision of the employees unions to stage ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ on Thursday in support of their demands. The employees unions had heaved a sigh of relief as the High Court reportedly asked the government to consider according permission to them to hold a meeting at Saroornagar indoor stadium.The Chief Secretary addressed a letter to the PRC chairman immediately after the meeting. It was decided to hold a meeting again on September 18 to take a final call on the composition and terms of reference of the committee. The government sought time in view of the ongoing Monsoon session of the legislature.The meeting on September 18 would also discuss about the possible timeframe for release of five pending instalments of Dearness Allowance.
