The Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer Foton is set to use IAA Transportation 2026 (15–20 September) in Hanover as a launchpad for further expansion into Europe. The focus of its exhibition will be on vehicles with battery-electric and hydrogen-based powertrains, as well as the continued growth of its sales, service, and spare parts networks. Against this backdrop, Foton is emphasising its strategy of not merely being an import brand – but also establishing a local presence through the introduction of new models.
Details of Foton’s new Cavan Beacon truck platform will not be disclosed prior to its international debut at IAA Transportation – although the heavy-duty BEV and FCEV variants have already been confirmed. However, Foton has revealed plans to present “seven new‑energy vehicle models and six in‑house‑developed core components” in Hanover, according to a statement. The exhibited solutions are explicitly aimed at stakeholders in European freight and commercial transport.
Irrespective of the Cavan Beacon premiere, Foton states that several of its light electric trucks and transporters already hold the approvals and certifications required for the European market. Vehicles from its own New Energy brand, Cavan, are currently being introduced in 15 European countries, as well as in other international markets such as Australia and New Zealand, according to the company.
