Between its revamped floor cleaners and its first foray into oral care, Dyson has clearly been keeping busy this year. Of all the launches, though, the one I’ve been most excited about is its latest cordless stick vacuum, the V16 Piston Animal.
This model launched in the US in June 2026 as the brand’s newest flagship vacuum, and Dyson says it’s the brand’s most powerful stick vacuum yet. The first thing I noticed when I got a sneak peek of it earlier this year was that it has so many features that make it better for whole-home cleaning than other stick vacuums. And since I recently moved out of my one-bedroom apartment and bought my first house, now was the perfect time to put this new cordless vacuum to the test.

It has strong suction power and a long battery life
Whenever people complain about cordless vacuums, they’re usually bashing their suction power or battery life. But the V16 Piston Animal impressed me on both counts. Dyson measures its vacuums’ suction power with air watts, and the V16 boasts 315 air watts — the most of any Dyson stick vacuum on the market.
