Israeli network i24NEWS, citing an American official, reported that U.S. military forces were targeting Iranian oil tankers on Tuesday evening, September 8.
Concurrently, Tasnim News Agency reported that a small Iranian oil tanker was struck by a U.S. missile approximately four miles off Kharg Island.
Citing local sources, Tasnim wrote that the tanker was hit by a projectile fired by U.S. forces within the anchorage zone of Kharg Island, adding that no casualties have been reported following the incident. According to the news agency, the tanker’s crew members are evacuating the vessel.
Tasnim also stated that the extent of the damage and the precise details of the incident are under investigation.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported hearing explosions near Kharg Island and Jask County.
