Kim Yong-beom, the Blue House director of national policy, resigned on Tuesday. The Blue House said during a briefing that day that Kim had tendered his resignation on Monday and that President Lee Jae Myung had accepted it on Tuesday. Kim had served in his role as director of national policy since the launch of Lee's administration in June of last year. Some observers suggest that his resignation comes amid backlash to the introduction of single-stock leveraged ETFs. Opposition parties had criticized Lee's decision to keep Kim in his role during a Cabinet and adviser reshuffle on Sunday as a "rejection of overhauling governance" and called for Kim to resign.
