Korea’s judo team said it is targeting at least four gold medals at the upcoming Asian Games in Japan, with coaches and athletes expressing confidence on Wednesday. Head coach Jung Sung-sook highlighted Huh Mimi and Lee Hyeon-ji on the women’s side, while men’s coach Hwang Hee-tae pointed to Lee Joon-hwan and Kim Min-jong. Korea won only one judo gold at the previous Asian Games in 2023, and the competition runs from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.

Korea will try to return to prominence in judo and bring home at least four gold medals from the upcoming Asian Games in Japan, national team coaches announced Wednesday.
Korea is targeting at least two gold medals each from the women's and men's events, said head coach Jung Sung-sook.
Jung singled out Huh Mimi in the women's -57 kilograms and Lee Hyeon-ji in the women's +78kg as the gold medal favorites on the women's side.
