The Middle Belt Forum has urged the Minister of Defence, Gen Christopher Musa (retd.), not to apologise to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his recent comments on the former governor’s administration.
Instead, the forum called for an independent investigation into alleged killings and payment of bandits during El-Rufai’s tenure and demanded that, if found culpable, the former governor be prosecuted for alleged crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court.
The MBF national spokesman, Luka Binniyat, made the demands on Tuesday at a press conference in Kaduna, where the forum expressed solidarity with Musa.
The PUNCH reports that the controversy followed comments made by the defence minister during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on September 3, 2026.
Musa had said, “We can never be happy with somebody who has deliberately planned for the killing of our people,” while referring to the administration of El-Rufai.
