WeVerse, the HYBE-run platform that connects fans with their favorite artists, shared that a data leak has impacted 422,584 accounts, according to reports. Among the information leaked were payment method, currency type, purchase amount, purchase date and time, and internal identification information. Card numbers, names and contact details were not among the information affected by the data leak, the company claims.

According to reports by Korea JoongAng Daily, WeVerse began an internal investigation after it received a report of a leak from the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). The company’s CEO, Zooile Yang, stated that WeVerse is individually notifying customers who were impacted by the data leak. According to reports, the company also says it is taking action to investigate the leak and increase security.

WeVerse and HYBE had not responded to Billboard’s request for comment by press time.

Yang stepped in as WeVerse CEO on June 1, replacing Joon Choi. The platform first launched in 2019 and currently hosts approximately 180 artist communities. As of April, WeVerse surpassed 155 million cumulative lifetime downloads. Globally, the platform has 10 million active monthly users across 245 countries and regions. The platform also hosts an e-commerce platform called WeVerse Shop.
