IonQ Debuts Sixth-Generation Superion QPU Architecture Featuring On-Chip Electronic Control and CMOS Integration
Trapped-ion quantum hardware developer IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) has announced its sixth-generation quantum computing platform, launching the IonQ Superion 256. The system represents the company’s first chip platform engineered for high-volume semiconductor fabrication following its acquisitions of Oxford Ionics and SkyWater Technology. IonQ has completed its initial fabrication tapeouts at SkyWater and successfully trapped first ions within prototype Superion 256 hardware deployed across its U.S. facilities, targeting commercial customer deliveries in 2027.
